Butterfly Sanctuary

What happened to the butterfly Sanctuary?

The Butterfly Sanctuary in Ramsgate has been closed down.  The Butterfly Sanctuary was originally built on the property of David Peter Swart with the understanding that the land would be purchased by CBISA at a later stage. CBISA had made four different attempts to purchase the land after raising the purchase price. The landlord David Swart allowed us to get all the contracts done and on final signature for the sale of the property, he would change his mind and increase the price. Original sales price  in 2002 R 350 000.00. This price had risen periodically. In 2008, this price was 10 million. Valuation of the land by HCM for 2008 to 2012 is R 1.4 million. CBISA has invested over 1 million rand in improvements that were absolutely necessary, because of this understanding. There are other issues also involved and therefore Legal representation has been sought. Litigations will soon follow in 2009.

What is CBISA doing about it?

The directors of CBISA along with the members of the body corporate made the unanimous decision to purchase the land next to the old Butterfly Sanctuary, lot 1034 in Fascadale Road, Ramsgate and relocate the Sanctuary there. A development program to build 4 unique eco homes for sale to the general public has been developed on the upper end of the land. The lower end of the land will become the new Ramsgate Butterfly Sanctuary.

As seen in this plan, There will be four new homes built. One of these units will be placed on pledge from January 2010. For more information go to the wed site
 www.ramsgatebutterflysanctuary.co.za.

There will be a phase 2 and Phase 3 developed in the same format as seen in this plan. We are hoping to start the building of Phase 1 in March 2010

If you would like to be part of this program and wish to pledge in one of the units, please go to the special dedicated site www.ramsgatebutterflysanctuary.co.za.
